A little bit of help is a gift from a friend

Guests who venture to Walt Disney World on a regular basis are always on the lookout for new experiences and ways in which they can make the parks fresh and new for themselves again. Over the years these enthusiasts have used Imagineering Field Guides, Walt Disney World Trivia Books, scavenger hunts, and a plethora of other ideas in order to make the time fly by and create new events for their trips. One of the most timed-honored traditions and wonderful theme park games is the search for Hidden Mickeys.

Since 2003 Steven Barrett has been considered, without a doubt, the master of Hidden Mickeys, with a little help from keen-eyed Disney enthusiasts. And while Mickeys can be seen everywhere, Barrett’s official definition is as follows, “a partial or complete image of Mickey Mouse that has been hidden by Disney’s Imagineers and artists in the designs of Disney attractions, hotels, restaurants, and other areas. These images are designed to blend into their surroundings.

Recently Barrett has released his 4th Edition of the Walt Disney World Hidden Mickeys Field Guide, as well as the 2nd Edition of the Disneyland version. Between the two volumes the Disney theme parks have over 1,100 Hidden Mickeys (around 900 for Walt Disney World and 275 found in Disneyland). The thrill of the hunt can be filled with frustration, laughter, and the occasional pestering of a Cast Member while in search of that ever elusive Mickey. Even though Hidden Mickeys may not make up the majority of my trips to Walt Disney World, or Disneyland, there are always a few on my list and Barrett’s field guides are always close at hand.Perhaps the most intriguing offering of the Hidden Mickey guides, however, is the fact that there are plenty of other hidden characters throughout the parks and resorts. Fear not, intrepid travelers, Barrett has you covered there as well! Tinker Bell, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, and even a Nautilus can be found within the pages of his books and the lands of Walt Disney World and Disneyland. With new additions to the Hidden Mickey index and clear concise clues directing the happy hunters, Steve Barrett has continued to provide excellent service to all guests seeking to enhance their park-going experiences. No matter your touring style, there is always time to find a hidden treasure in Walt Disney World. With new Mickeys being found all the time, Barrett’s field guides are sure to spark many more adventures.

I love these books. My brother and I (21 and 26) annoy the rest of our family because we have to ride and re-ride things until we find them. There is one by in Tomorrowland between Space Mountain and the Astro-Orbiter that we still can't find. It is infuriatingly awesome!

Scott - I see Mickey's everywhere too. Around here, however, we often say that they find me...

pk40 - The new volume has some more heft to it than the previous volumes. I will pull out the description of your elusive Hidden Mickey and see what I can do to find it, and pass on some more clues, when I am in Walt Disney World next week.

I adore these books - as does the rest of my family. My mum loves to look for Hidden Mickeys everywhere now. And I agree with the others - I see Hidden Mickey's EVERYWHERE now!

Am still waiting for my new edition to come in, ready for my trip next month!
