We want to do something about animals

On this day last year, at right around this time, I was standing before the Tree of Life with several thousands of my closest friends as Disney’s Animal Kingdom was rededicated for its 10th anniversary. I am quite sure many of the guests that visited that morning were unaware of the fact that the park was turning ten, and simply wished the ceremony would end so that they could make their way around to Expedition Everest, but for those of us who came to pay our respects to the youngest of Walt Disney World’s theme parks, it was a magical morning.

Over the course of the weekend leading up to Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s rededication, a multitude of friendships were formed and/or cemented. However, I’ll save my reflections on that subject for a few days, until I’m on the road again. Today though, I thought I’d share with you just a few pictures of what made the celebration so unique and such a wonderful experience for all who had the chance to partake in it. Some of these images have been shown here, or similar photographs have appeared elsewhere, but this should be a fond look back regardless.

For those of you celebrating Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s 11th birthday today, be sure to tell it ‘Happy Birthday’ for me!
