It's Because of the Tutu

In the history of Walt Disney World there have been several beloved characters created especially for the parks and their attractions. While each has their own special place in the Vacation Kingdom’s history, there is perhaps none more outlandish than the Timekeeper.

The Timekeeper first appeared on the scene in Tomorrowland in 1994 as part of a time traveling Circle-Vision film attraction known as, well, The Timekeeper. Originally based in the Transportarium, which soon after opening became known as the Tomorrowland Metropolis Science Center, The Timekeeper featured two Audio-Animatronics characters. The brassy in every sense of the word 9-Eye and the brilliant, but flighty Timekeeper are the stars of the show. The endearing Timekeeper and his outrageous outbursts owe a ton to the voice behind the droid, Robin Williams. Heck, the Timekeeper even shares some of the same facial features and body language of Robin Williams.

While the show only lasted twelve years, with many of those final years on a very limited seasonal status, the Timekeeper himself still has a warm spot in the hearts of many Disney enthusiasts.

The Timekeeper was one of my favorite attractions in the MK. The Avenue of Planets used to house the two most innovative attractions in the park. How sad that they are both gone....
