A spoonful of sugar

Alright, faithful readers, today’s article needs a lot of help… from YOU! The roundtable crew has had a very busy month and were, for the most part, unable to take part in the festivities, so I need each of you to belly up to this question and give us your personal answers.

Roundtable Topic: What is your favorite snack in Walt Disney World, where can it be found, and why?
Roundtable Guests: Matthew Sedlar (The geekTicket), Eric Hoffman (Netmongrel), and myself.
Matthew - I hate being so predictable, but you can't beat a good Dole Whip. Seriously. There's nothing like a Dole Whip on a hot day at the Magic Kingdom. On the other hand, if it's chilly outside (like this past January, when we ran in the freezing cold and rain) I'd say a coffee and baked goods from the Kringla Bakeri Og Kafe in Epcot's Norway pavilion.

Eric - So many choices here and while many will gravitate to the Dole Whip or Mickey Ice Cream bar my favorite snack is the Cinnamon Roasted Almonds. I always purchase mine from the snack cart on the walkway from Fantasyland to Mickey's Toontown Fair. The are sweet, crunchy, and you get enough to last you through the better part of the day. I think there is actually some nutritionally redeeming qualities to this snack too! They aren't messy like some of my other favorites too. Stick the bag in your back pack, pocket or (gasp) fanny pack and you can even snack on the rides.

Ryan - The list of my favorite snacks is about as long as Santa’s naughty and nice list, but I will abide by my own rules. The raspberry schuss, found in France’s Boulangerie Patisserie, is far and away my favorite sweet treat. Some rich filling sandwiched between thin layers of chocolate and raspberry, honestly, there is nothing better than to people watch while enjoying this indulgence.

If I had a little more room in my stomach though, I think I could be persuaded to split a carrot cake cookie from the Writer’s Stop in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Anyone want the other half?
Now that you have heard our answers, I need you to chime in with your favorite snacks in Walt Disney World, where it can be found, and why you love it so much! Come on everybody, let’s hear what you have to say!

As lame as this is, my favorite snack is the Corn Dogs over in Frontierland at the cart. The smell overpowers me and draws me in every time. I simply cannot resist these. They are truly truly truly yummy.

Now... does a hot dog wrapped in corn bread count as a snack or is it a meal? I say snack. And you know... I'm just going to go with that! :-) Have a great trip this week, Ryan!

I'm with Ryan on the Boulangerie Patisserie - the ham and cheese croissant (or croissant avec de jambon et de fromage) is my favorite WDW snack. It's just enough for those times when you don't want a full meal, but want more than a pretzel. If I'm in the mood for something sweeter, I love the churros w/chocolate that you can find around the parks.

I'm going with the other extreme and will pick the unhealthiest snack in the park - the funnel cake. They are large enough to share with the ones you love so you don't feel as guilty and the mess they leave makes it obvious to others what you've been doing. Who doesn't love walking out of the park with a powdered sugar face and sticky fingers after a long day of fun.

The treat I look forward to the most is.......say it with me.......the Beignets over at PORFQ!! OH MY GOODNESS!!! followed by a close second by just good old fashion popcorn from the vendor just as you come through and start up Main Street in the MK. This is fun!

Elizabeth - A corn dog, really? Not even the mini corn dogs at Casey's? Just kidding, I love the flavors and portable nature of the corn dog!

Disney Chick - Seriously, there is no better place for quick bites (or slow bites and people watching) the the Boulangerie Patisserie.

Lori - Funnel cake is one of the most simple, yet extremely tasty snacks around.

Diane - And one of the best parts of the beignets is that they are only available in one spot, making it fun to seek them out!

Although they are no longer called the Toll House Cookie Ice Cream Sandwich, my favorite snack is a chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwich from the Main Street Bakery. My preferred location to eat this snack is sitting at one of the tables down on East Center Street.

Simple as it is, I love the Mickey-shaped ice cream on a stick that you can get at the ice cream carts throughout WDW. It's definitely not the most sophisticated or unusual snack, but it makes me happy!

My favorite snack was a Goofy bar, also known as a Pocahantas bar and a Hercules bar. Chocolate ice cream on a stick with a layer of caramel and covered with a chocolate coating. As far as I know it is no longer available at the parks.
