Splashdown

In 1992, Splash Mountain opened in the Magic Kingdom, forever changing the landscape of the park. Since the park’s opening in 1971, the border of Frontierland had been a small, clapboard train station for the Walt Disney World Railroad. A reimagined station would be elevated above the landscape of Splash Mountain’s corner of Frontierland. Additionally, and this goes without saying, Splash Mountain became the third mountain in the Walt Disney World mountain range.

History aside, some days you simply want to get some adrenaline flowing with a five-story, watery plunge!

Splashdown! Brer Rabbit, Brer Fox and Brer Bear join guests for a wet ending to Splash Mountain, the newest addition to the Magic Kingdom at Walt Disney World Resort. The ride features Academy Award-winning music and scenes from the 1946 Walt Disney film “Song of the South.” Splash Mountain then ends with a five-story plunge into the Briar Patch.
