This length of pastry uses puff pastry dough, which is twisted and bakes to about a foot long. Sacristains, which have the appearance of a breadstick, can be sweet or savor. In the case of the pastries found at the Boulangerie Patisserie, the Scaristains are most certainly sweet. Chocolate chips have been sprinkled atop the pastry, some maintain their shape on top of the dough, while others have melted into the interior. A drizzle of icing is used to finish off this version of the Sacristain. The Boulangerie Patisserie is known for heavy treats that are filled with cream, but this is not one of those snacks. The Sacristain is the perfect after meal compliment or a light snack on a day when you have an early dinner.
